Spring Watercolor Painting Classes

Date: 5 Saturdays May 12, 19, June 2, 9, 16 (Raindate June 23rd)
Time: 1pm-3:30pm
Place: Town of Esopus Library, 128 Canal St. Port Ewen, NY

Learn to paint in watercolor for the first time or continue to improve your skills. Paint outside at area parks and historic sites (weather permitting) and inside from photos. Through demonstrations and individual instruction you will learn about using watercolor materials, techniques, composition, creating color values and more in a fun and supportive environment. Beginners and students with some experience are welcome. Some previous drawing experience is helpful.

Plein Air Demonstration for the Wallkill River School Plein Air Painters

Date: Sunday June 3rd
Time: 9 am- 1 pm
Place: Thomas Bull Stone House, 183 County Route 51, Campbell Hall, NY

I will be giving a short demo on choosing an interesting painting subject with a good composition. After the demonstration, paint on this beautiful property in any media. Picnic lunch and short critique follows painting sessions.

Exhibition at the Klyne Esopus Museum
"Artists of Esopus"

Opening Reception for members and guests Sat. June 2th
Exhibition Dates: June 3 – Oct. 15th
Time: Museum is open 1-4 pm daily

Watercolor Landscape Painting en Plein Air 1 Day Worshops

Dates: Thurs. June 7, or Friday June 22nd
Time: 9:30 am- 3 pm
Place: Benedict Town Park in Montgomery (or at the Wallkill River School of Art)

For all levels, discover the importance of values, color and design as you compose your landscape painting. This class will take place outdoors "en plein air"or indoors (working from photos) if the weather is inclement. The instructor will demonstrate techniques and then work with you individually to help you progress from an initial compostional value study to a finished watercolor. Some previous drawing experience is helpful.

About the Instructor

Mira Fink is an accomplished watercolor artist and certified art teacher. Her paintings inspired by the natural world have been exhibited in solo and juried shows locally and regionally for the last 20 years and are in many private collections all over the country.
